A
buffet dinner to raise funds for Promoting Achievement in
School through Sport (PASS) and PASS-based programs,
including firstPASS and Sport Culture Community.
PASS is a yearlong course that shows middle and high school
students
how to use the study and practice of sport to improve their
academic and athletic skills. firstPASS is the elementary school
version of PASS, and Sport Culture Community brings the
positive aspects of sport culture into an institutional setting
to create a sense of place and belonging, focus, discipline,
leadership, responsibility, and compassion.
For the 2002-2003 school year, teachers
from 15 schools and institutions will present PASS and PASS-based
programs to 800 students in the San Francisco Bay, Portland,
Los Angeles, Chicago, and Raleigh areas. All programs have been
developed by the nonprofit American Sports Institute. |
