BENEFIT A buffet dinner to raise funds for Promoting Achievement in
School through Sport
(PASS) and PASS-based programs,
including firstPASS and Sport Culture Community. PASS is a yearlong course that shows middle and high school students
how to use the study and practice of sport to improve their academic and athletic skills. firstPASS is the elementary school version of PASS, and Sport Culture Community brings the
positive aspects of sport culture into an institutional setting
to create a sense of place and belonging, focus, discipline, leadership, responsibility, and compassion.

For the 2002-2003 school year, teachers from 15 schools and institutions will present PASS and PASS-based programs to 800 students in the San Francisco Bay, Portland, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Raleigh areas. All programs have been developed by the nonprofit American Sports Institute.
