Jane Smith, President
Bay Area Company
1234 Main Street
Bay Area, CA 94123
Dear Ms. Smith:
Your organization is invited to rub shoulders with
some of the Bay Area's most celebrated sports figures and support
the American Sports Institute's efforts to improve education through
the study and practice of sport.
ASI offers the Promoting Achievement in School through Sport (PASS) program to middle and high school students, and the firstPASS program to elementary school students. PASS and firstPASS students improve their grades, self-esteem, and behavior by applying the positive aspects of sport culture to their academic and personal lives.
In order to raise funds to support this important work, ASI hosts the annual PASS Benefit dinner which has featured celebrity guests such as Dusty Baker, Jeff Garcia, and many other high-profile athletes who generously give of their time to attend this special event. Many of them have said, "I wished there'd been a program like PASS when I was in school."
I'm writing to invite you to experience an unforgettable evening and to support ASI's efforts by becoming a PASS Benefit sponsor. You and your guests will have the opportunity to:
- Mix and mingle with some of the Bay Area's most celebrated sports figures!
- Enjoy a savory buffet at the renowned California Culinary Academy!
- Meet PASS and firstPASS students and teachers, and learn firsthand about the impact of your support!
- Take pride in improving education through the study and practice of sport!
You'll find details enclosed, including a summary of ASI's Accomplishments and Goals, a Sponsor Fact Sheet, Sponsor Levels & Benefits, and a Sponsor Response form.
Your support is very important because it helps ASI reach more children, teaching them how to use the lessons of sport to create success in their lives. I hope you'll participate at the highest possible level.
In the spirit of sport,
Joel Kirsch, President
P.S. Please fax the Sponsor Response form to us ASAP to reserve your PASS Benefit tickets!

ASI ACCOMPLISHMENTS & GOALS
Making A Difference
- Since 1989, over 5,000 middle and high school students have discovered through the PASS program that the practices that lead to athletic success-concentration, balance, attitude, etc.- also lead to academic and personal success.
- Since 1998, over 2,500 students in K-8 classes have participated in firstPASS, the elementary version of PASS, and have learned how sports practices contribute to improved focus, greater compassion, stronger presence, and more responsible behavior.
- Through the PASS-based Sport Culture Community program, inmates in the San Francisco County Jail system are developing personal and social skills by applying the positive aspects of sport culture to their lives.
- Testified before the California Assembly Education Committee at the State Capitol in Sacramento on how to reform California's schools using the positive aspects of sport culture as a model.
Goals To Be Achieved With Continued Support
- Research, develop, and implement on a school-wide basis an experimental expanded version of the firstPASS program.
- Update the American Sports Institute website, focusing on the sport and educational reform information. This includes an online library that will contain, along with articles, reports, and interviews, a transcript of ASI's educational reform forum and expert witness papers from ASI's presentation before the California State Assembly Education Committee.
- Begin planning for the creation of a private, tuition-free school based on the PASS and firstPASS programs.
